St. Laurence’s GFC was formed in 1957 when the then Narraghmore and Balli= tore clubs joined forces. They ach= ieved their first big success when they won the Minor A Championship in 1974 when amalgamated with Castledermot. In 1975 the Club purchased its playing grounds at Oldgrange. They went on to capture the Junior= B title in 1975, the Junior A in 1978 and the Intermediate in 1980. The Larries reached their first Ki= ldare Senior Final in 1982 but unfortunately lost out to a star studded Sarsfields team on the scoreline 1-12 to 0-3. It would be ten years before the Larries reached the Senior decider again. This time Clane provid= ed the opposition and narrowly defeated a gallant Larries side by 0-9 to 0-7. Incidentally, the Larries were cap= tained that day by Man of the Match and current Kildare selector, Pat Keatley. During the mid 90’s the Larr= ies won the U16 A Championship, a title they captured again in 2004. St. Laurence’s won their fir= st Senior title in 2000 when they defeated Moorefield in the Leinster Leader C= up (Division 1 League Final). The Larries next appeared in the County Final of 2004. Unfortunately it was not to be a c= ase of third time lucky. Despite the= ir best efforts, the men from Narraghmore/Ballitore were defeated by Allenwood= , on the scoreline, 0-11 to 0-7. 2= 004 ended on a high note however when the U21’s won the clubs first ever = County Final at that grade. Thomas Russell captained the side against Confey on an unforgettable December afternoon in Raheens.

The Larr= ies entered 2005 in upbeat mode following success at U21 grade. Both the Seniors and Minors reached their respective County Finals together for= the first time ever in the Clubs history. Both teams played Sarsfields in their finals. Due to so many of the minor team p= laying with the Seniors the Minor game was postponed until a date after the Senior final. The Seniors drew the f= irst game 1-8 to 0-11 on the 08Oct05. One week later the teams meet again in St. Conleths Pk, Newbridge. This replay unfortunately did not = go our way with the final result reading St. Laurence’s 0-9, Sarsfields 1-11. A week later brought mo= re heart ache for the Larries when the Minor team were also beaten in the County Final by the same opposition. All w= as not lost in 2005 however as the Senior Team later went on to claim the Leinster Leader Cup for only the second time in the Clubs history. The minor team also hit back in 20= 06 when they overcame Leixlip by 6 points in the County Final. This win was of special significan= ce as it was the first time the Larries won this competition on their own right.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Shaun Fahey proved to be the match winner that day and completed an amazing feat of winning man of the match awards in three County Finals at different grades; U16, Minor and U21.

It was n= ot until 18Oct09 that the Senior team reached the county final again. This time the opposition was Moore= field, Leinster Champions 2006. The Larries produced a magnificent display to defeat the overwhelming favourites 1-13 to 0-6. Captain fantasti= c that day was Mossie Doyle, one of many survivors from the final defeats of 2004 = and 2005. Our day in the sun had finally arrived…
